I am a Senior Researcher at FORS, the Swiss Centre of Expertise in the Social Sciences and at the Institute of Political Studies, both hosted at the University of Lausanne. I also co-coordinate the Swiss Elite Observatory and serve as a member of the Secretariat of the World Elite Database, an international consortium of scholars working to develop a standardized data regime to study elite populations.
As a sociologist, I specialize in two main areas: the study of elites and research practices. Within elite studies, I seek to understand how elite groups acquire, maintain, and transmit positions of power over time, and the inequalities surrounding access to these roles. In the realm of research practices, I teach, advise scholars and conduct research on data management in social sciences. I am particularly interested in open research data and in how research is assessed and valued within academia.
I employ a diverse array of methods, including biographical interviews, sequence analysis, and geometric data analysis. My research has been published in journals such as Science and Public Policy, Sociology, Business History, Social Science History and Global Networks.
